Future Transport Systems’ first birthday in June coincided with a restructuring that resulted from the sale of former sister company, TNEI to oil and gas operator, Petrofac Plc.

Future Transport Systems’ is now entirely owned by the management team and is independent of TNEI and Petrofac.  “The sale of TNEI provides us with the firm financial footing and flexibility we need to grow in this new market.” commented MD, Matthew Lumsden.

Our first year has been very successful in terms of entering a very new and dynamic market place:

  • Following on from the electric vehicle strategy development in the North East we are managing the delivery of the SWITCH EV Technology Strategy Board/ONE North East funded Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator Programme.
  • We have developed very varied electric vehicle infrastructure development strategies for Berkshire, Yorkshire and the East of England
  • We have submitted Plugged in Places bids funded by Sheffield City Council, CO2 Sense and the East of England Development Agency
  • We have undertaken work reviewing the potential to develop biomethane and hydrogen as well as electric vehicle charging infrastructure in South Yorkshire.
  • We are infrastructure work package leaders in an Interreg project spanning Belgium, Holland, France, Germany and the Republic of Ireland.
  • We have established a major strategic partnership with Vinci to assist in the delivery of EV infrastructure across the UK.

With a number of major opportunities ‘in the pipeline’ our next 12 months is looking equally exciting.
